AMEX launches new no-fee gift card aimed at Hispanics November
9,
2009 --
American
Express has launched ¡Felicidades!, a new holiday gift card that will be
available for customers to purchase online, starting November 2, 2009 through
January 15, 2010 at
americanexpress.com/felicidades.
The new gift card’s unique name and design celebrates Hispanic culture and
provides unique gift options for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s and
Three King’s Day.The ¡Felicidades! gift card was developed in collaboration with American Express’ global diversity team and AHORA, the company’s Hispanic employee network. Members of AHORA were instrumental in guiding the physical design of the card and in making sure that the product speaks to unique aspects of Hispanic traditions, such as extending the gift giving to include important holidays in the culture like Three King’s Day in January. Unlike other gift cards, American Express Gift Cards have no fees after purchase -- no fees for activation, no fees for checking a balance, no fees for monthly servicing, no fees for card replacement, and the funds on the cards never expire. The card comes in denominations of $25, $50, $100, and $200 and has a one-time purchase fee of $3.95. “American Express has always sought to create products that appeal to our diverse customer segments and we looked no further than our own Hispanic employee population to serve as the creative force behind this exciting new product,” said Alpesh Chokshi, president, Global Prepaid, American Express. “With the ¡Felicidades! Gift Card, we offer a uniquely designed holiday gift card that celebrates Hispanic culture,” he added. The ¡Felicidades! Gift Card is only one way American Express is showing support for the Hispanic culture and traditions during the coming holiday season. “As a global company with a diverse talent and customer base, we continue to seek innovative ways to demonstrate the value we place on promoting a culture of inclusiveness and diversity as well as meeting the needs of our customers,” said Kerrie Peraino, chief diversity officer, American Express.
