Rick Najera Exposes Comic Side of Fatherhood in DADDY DIARIES

Award-winning Actor/Playwright Rick Najera Returns To Lyceum Theatre for New Fatherhood Comedy DADDY DIARIES - Performances Will Be Held For Two Weekends Only! May 15-17, 22-24, 2009

May 8, 2009 --– San Diego REPertory Theatre welcomes award-winning playwright RICK NAJERA back to the Lyceum Theatre for workshop performances of his latest comedy DADDY DIARIES. San Diego native and local favorite, RICK NAJERA is a multi-hyphenated actor-writer-director-producer and the father of three young children. DADDY DIARIES explores his life as a father through his eccentric and comedic point of view. Directed by GARY BLUMSACK and written and performed by Najera himself, this live stage comedy will run Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17; and continue on Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 24.

Paying homage to fathers everywhere, DADDY DIARIES takes audiences from bachelorhood to the rough streets of fatherhood and explains what to expect when you're not expecting. Whether you are a dad, have a dad or just know a dad, this show will have you laughing out loud!

RICK NAJERA, a Hollywood scribe and professional actor, is also one of the most produced Latino playwrights in the country. Known for his dramatic and comedic stage plays, A Quiet Love, Latins Anonymous, Latinologues, Sweet 15, and now Daddy Diaries, his nationally recognized play Latinologues ran on Broadway for 137 performances, a historical achievement for a Latino-oriented show. Najera was honored twice by Hispanic Business Magazine's as "100 Most Influential Latinos in America" and was also named '50 Most Creative in Hollywood' by Variety. His current projects include serving as co-creator of KartoonTV.com and Content Strategist for MioTV as head writer and producer for Camera Café. Najera's writing credits include well-known television comedies such as MAD TV and In Living Color and most recently, the holiday feature film, Nothing Like the Holidays starring John Leguizamo, Debra Messing and Freddy Rodriguez.
